At Mpumalanga Roof tiles the Concrete tiles comes in a great many styles and colors. They can also come in different shapes to further customize the look of a roof. Today’s tiles are not hard to install. They are economical, low-maintenance and eco-friendly.
Step One: Preparations
It is important, when working on a roof, to keep safety in mind. A helper will be able to hold the ladder in place and to help in other ways such as passing tools to save multiple trips up and down the ladder. Safety glasses should be used when doing any cutting to prevent foreign objects getting into the eyes. A harness will add to these safety measures.
Gather all of the tools and materials into the same area if possible so there is less need to climb and descend the ladder. Set up the saw attaching the diamond cutting blade. Check through the roof kit to make sure everything has been provided and determine whether or not roof sheathing, batten and felt will be needed.
Step Two: Create a Strong Base
If the roof is weak or damaged, it will be necessary to nail roof sheathing into place before installing the roof. Attach the sheathing over the entire roof. This step will also be needed if the house is of new construct.
Step Three: Attach the Vapor Barriers
The vapor barrier should be glued over the plywood base or directly onto the existing roof if the base is not necessary. Attach the barrier over the entire roof.
Step Four: Install the Flashing
The flashing is installed around any openings such as a chimney or a skylight. Use a filled caulking gun and a nail gun to install this. Using both of the items will make the flashing secure and help to prevent damage from rain and snow.
Step Five: Install the Roof Batten and Felt
If a home is located is a windy or wet area, roof batten should be installed using stick lumber. The lumber is attached horizontally in bands so that tiles can be attached to them. Attach the roof felt if it is needed.
Step Six: Attach the Roof Tiles
If there are roof battens, nail the tiles to them. Otherwise, attach the tiles to the roof felt. Use roof adhesive to fix down the tiles as each one is slid into place and nail the tiles down. The first section of the tiles is cut to size and attached to the roof, starting at a lower edge and working up. The process is continued in this manner until the entire roof is tiled.
A tile roof will give any home added visual appeal and should stand up to most types of weather.
